General questions

  • How much will my website cost?

Every website has differences and will therefore be priced individually. You will need to get in touch with some details so that an accurate quote can be given.

Please email or call with details such as:

    • How many pages your website will require (5 is a common number of pages)
    • Any special requirements your website needs (if any)
    • A link to your current website (if you have one)
    • Websites that you would like to base yours on (if any)
    • Deadlines or time constraints (if any)
  • Are there any hidden fees or prices?

You will be given a fixed-price quote to create the website (no expensive hourly fee here!)

If your website is new (not a redesign) it will require hosting, I can provide hosting for your website for an annual fee, this fee also includes security, regular back-ups and personal support should you ever need it.

You may already have already purchased your hosting, which is fine - just make sure the hosting you have has "FTP" (File Transfer Protocol). FTP is necessary as it is how your finished website will need to be uploaded.

  • Is a meeting actually necessary?

Meetings can be arranged if necessary but are often unrequired.

Thanks to modern technology (email, phone and the internet) the entire process can be carried out by emailing designs and developments for you to see on your own computer, and in turn you are able to respond with your input. Invoices can be emailed to you directly and your payments can be made by internet banking or by visiting the bank - receipts for your payments are sent directly to you via email.

  • Do I need to register the domain name and hosting myself?

I can take care of registering the domain and can also provide hosting for you.

    Already bought your domain/hosting elsewhere?

No problem, I can still design and provide a superb website - I will even upload it (to your hosting) once you are happy for the website to go live.

If you wish to transfer your website away from your current hosting provider to myself, feel free to ask and I will be happy to help.

  • Will my website work on iPads, iPhones and other mobiles?

your website will be tested to ensure that it works on mobile phones and tablets.

  • Can the whole process be completed by email/phone?

This is the most common way that projects are completed, it saves time as there are no complications of travelling or frustration in waiting for meetings. You are a busy person with day-to-day commitments, so it is ideal that your website can be developed and completed in this fashion.

In some circumstances this is the only option due to physical distance (whether you're near or far, it's easy and convenient to check your email and respond with your thoughts on the development).

Processes and requirements

  • Do you take a deposit? When do I pay?

After you have made contact and we have discussed your website needs, a 50% deposit is required (half of the quoted price), at which point I can commence work on your website.

Once the 50% deposit is received I will develop your website to completion (with your views/input being given along the way).

The remaining 50% is payable upon completion of the website (your website will then be launched online - completing the job).

  • What information do you need from me?

Please email with details such as:

    • How many pages your website will require (5 is a common number of pages)
    • Any special requirements your website needs (if any)
    • A link to your current website (if you have one)
    • Websites that you would like to base yours on (if any)
    • Deadlines or time constraints (if any)

You will need to provide the text content for the pages of your website - but don't worry if you need time to work on this as I won't need the text straight away (the overall look and design of the website will be addressed and worked on first).

  • How long will it take you to build my website?

Typically a website can be completed within two weeks.

Once your deposit has been received I am fully committed and can begin working on your website.

  • What if I want to change my website in the future?

If at any point in the future you wish to change anything about your website, just get in touch and I will be happy to help.

Whether it's changing some text or adding new pages, I will be happy to discuss and explain if any cost is involved.

Invoices, payments and receipts

  • How do I pay you?

An invoice will be sent to you by email (.PDF format), enclosed within the email will be details on how you can pay via online banking (other methods of pay are available).

Cash is also accepted if meeting is feasible. (see below for more information)

  • Can I pay via online banking?

Online banking is the easiest and most preferred way to make payment. There is no waiting for funds to clear, this allows me to start developing your website without delay.

If you wish to pay by online banking, payment details will be provided to you directly.

  • Can I pay from my local bank branch?

Details will be provided, all you will have to do is visit your own bank and make the transaction with the teller. (this is a solid alternative if you don't use online banking).

Please note - your bank may charge for the above method of sending money. However, a cost-free alternative is to make a deposit at the recipients own bank.

If you wish to pay by deposit at my bank, please discuss with me directly.

  • Can I pay by cheque?

If you prefer to pay by cheque then please ask for the correct details before writing your cheque.

Please Note - If you wish to pay by cheque, please be aware that I can only start developing your website once the cheque has been received and cleared.

  • Can I pay by cash?

Despite being local, a high majority of clients have opted to pay via online banking as it provides you with electronic proof that your money has been sent and where/who it has been sent to.

  • Will I get a receipt?

A receipt will be provided (via email) for each payment received.
